Spring Recreational Activities in Elk Rapids

As the spring breeze slowly starts to waft through Elk Rapids, we are all anxious to throw open our windows and spend some time outside. Finally, after a long winter, residents and visitors to Elk Rapids can enjoy many local activities.

Enjoy the Trails

From the Village of Elk Rapids, a short drive will connect you to over 300 miles of non-motorized trails for paddling, walking, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, birding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and other recreational opportunities. Use this map to plan your next trail adventure. Elk Rapids is a great jumping-off point for many recreational trails throughout northwest Michigan. To explore more trail opportunities beyond the immediate area, check out the resource links on our website.

Enjoy the Arts

Arts are a beautiful piece of the culture of Elk Rapids. Art Rapids! works to enhance and promote the arts and arts education in the Elk Rapids area. Art Rapids! also combines art and nature in the Walk of Art sculpture park at the Elk Rapids Day Park, with six sculptures and up to 30 featured works to admire while strolling through the beauty of nature. In addition, with a little something for everyone, explore the Elk Rapids Event Calendar to stay up to date on all that we have to offer, from library events to crafting opportunities like the matting and framing workshop at Art and Connection.

Spring means that golfers are starting to dust off their clubs and prepare to spend the day at the golf course. The golf courses in Elk Rapids are recognized as some of the best in Michigan. So if you have the itch, book your tee time at Elk Rapids Golf Club, Grand Traverse Resort, The Chief, and LochenHeath courses. And north of Elk Rapids, between Torch Lake and Grand Traverse Bay, A-Ga-Ming offers three distinct golfing experiences: wide, playable fairways, woods and creeks, and parkland settings.
